Sure is SLOW...

but we're moving!

Well, just got back from Wal-Mart where I ran into Todd's Aunt Gabby who is always so faithful to ask about the adoption. She is bewildered every time I tell her we're "still waiting in line!" How many times can people hear that before they just quit asking? It really is hard for people outside the China Adoption Community to understand all the intricacies of this process... heck, I don't understand 'em all!

This morning Rumor Queen had a well substantiated rumor that April's cut-off date is going to be November 1, 2005. It's exciting we're up to November... that's just 2 months away from us! Now will be be hares and it take us 4 more months for our referral or will be travel on as tortoises and see our baby towards 2008? I'm betting on the self-portrait above.

We keep takin' licks!
See the guy on the left? That's me.
See the guy on the right? That's CHINA.
Month after month they keep giving us the right hook... over and over and over. I'm a bloody pulp. I don't know if I can take much more of the fight. It's practically a KO. This month's devestating news is that China only matched TWO PATHETIC DAYS of referrals. Two days. Is that even true? Surely, my eyesight is failing me. Families logged in October 25th and October 26th of 2005 received referrals yesterday. 2005. It's 2007. I'm speechless. And discouraged. I know lots of families this is their first baby. They've dealt with devestating fertility issues and this is their hope of having a baby. I have 3 babies. I don't want to be buying prom dresses & diapers at the same time. I want Lilly to be a sister to my children... not have 3 more little parents. My sister Wendy is 19 months younger than I am. My sister Nancy is 7 years younger than I am. Our relationships are totally different. Wendy & I were always sisters. But to Nancy, I was more mothering... keeping an eye on her... babysitting her... avoiding her. Just in the past few years now that we're both adults & mothers have we bonded as sisters... equals... friends. When we started this process my children were 6,5 and 3 and by the time Lilly comes home they'll be 10,9 and almost 7. UGGG.... I need another cup of coffee and a Xanax!

Spring BRRRRReak
This was the view from our Perdido Key, FL condo balcony last week on Spring Break. Nah... just kidding. But it was cold. We started the week off good... lots of fun in the sun. But by Thursday it had turned breezy & unseasonably cold in the Panhandle. We went from catching waves to catching a movie and from playing in the sand to playing putt-putt (or as Tate says "Mini-tree golf." But the getaway was nice... the heated pool was nice and looking at the beach boy, Woody, was also nice! :)
